Today, students from the May Academy Bilingual Programme had a special experience at Kymviet, a place dedicated to making handicrafts and providing vocational training for individuals with disabilities, especially in the deaf community.
Kymviet is known for its beautiful handicrafts made from brocade, which reflect Vietnamese culture. Each product is carefully made, showing not just skill but also the patience and passion of the artisans. By learning about Kymviet’s work and touring the factory, our students discovered that every item has value and tells a story of individuals who have overcome challenges to contribute to Vietnam's traditional crafts.
A highlight of the visit was learning how to communicate using non-verbal language, which helped the students better understand the communication difficulties faced by the deaf community.
The students also had the chance to create their own stuffed animals, deepening their appreciation for the talent and resilience of those with disabilities who make meaningful products.
At the end of the trip, the students presented handmade keychains to disadvantaged peers, showing their spirit of sharing and community support. Let’s take a look back at some of the wonderful moments from this experience!
